Environmental engineering is interred linked with all technology. Although, Civil Engineering degree comprising international standard have five basic blocks/divisions as Structural, Geotechnical, Transportation, Water Resources and Environmental Engineering. Major urban environmental issues like solid waste management, water supply and sanitation, sewerage and storm water management, Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) design and management in industries, Environmental Management System (EMS), Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of development projects, etc are now dealt by environmental engineers.

 

 As a developing country, Bangladesh is going through a massive growth in its industrial and infrastructural sector. As a result our air, water and energy sector now under threatened condition. Water pollution, air pollution, greenhouse gas emission, temperature rise, drought, flood, and cyclone as well as climate change are the main environmental issues in Bangladesh.

 

 Environmental Technology (EnvT) department established in 2005 by Director of Technical Education (under the curriculum of BTEB) reflects huge opportunity that has opened up for diploma graduates in the national and international job markets.

Department Mission

 

 The Department of environmental engineering focuses on-one is pollution control and management another is to consider environmental policy in planning, design, construction and maintenance any kinds of development projects.

 

Program Educational Objectives

 

  • Graduates with a firm foundation in the basic math, science, computer literacy and engineering science witch underlie all technological development will be well equipped to adapt to changing technology with considering environmental policy in the profession.

 

  • Graduates equipped with a broad technical background will be able to follow other technical or non-technical carrier paths.
